Anti-Money Laundering & Know Your Customer Guidelines
Last Updated: May 6, 2026
At CanuckJackpot, we maintain the highest standards of financial integrity and regulatory compliance. This Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) Policy outlines the strict measures we take to prevent financial crime, fraud, underage gambling, and the laundering of illicit funds through our platform. These protocols are designed to align with Canadian standards, including guidelines set forth by FINTRAC (Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada).
1. What is KYC and Why is it Necessary?
Know Your Customer (KYC) is a mandatory procedure designed to identify and verify the identity of our clients. This process is essential for ensuring that:
- All players meet the legal age requirement of 19 years or older (or the legal age of majority in their respective Canadian province).
- Players reside in a jurisdiction where our services are legally offered.
- The funds used for playing belong to the registered account holder.
- CanuckJackpot is not being used to harbor or transfer funds obtained through illicit means.
2. Verification Procedures (KYC)
CanuckJackpot implements a risk-based approach to player verification. We may require you to verify your identity upon registration, when attempting to make a deposit, or before processing any withdrawal requests.
Mandatory Verification Documents
When requested, you must provide clear, high-resolution photographs or scans of the following documents:
1. Proof of Identity (POI)
A valid, government-issued photo ID. Accepted documents include:
- Canadian Passport
- Provincial Driver's License
- Provincial Identity Card
* The document must show your full name, date of birth, photograph, and expiration date.
2. Proof of Address (POA)
A document confirming your current Canadian residential address, dated within the last 3
months. Accepted documents include:
- Utility bill (e.g., electricity, water, internet)
- Bank or credit card statement
- Government-issued tax document
* The document must show your full name, address, the issuing authority's logo, and the date of issue. Mobile phone bills are generally not accepted.
3. Proof of Payment Method
Depending on the method used to deposit CAD, we may require:
- A copy of the front and back of the credit/debit card used (with middle 8 digits and CVV covered).
- A screenshot of your e-wallet or Interac account showing your name and account details.
3. Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Protocols
CanuckJackpot strictly forbids the use of its services for money laundering or the financing of terrorism. We have implemented robust AML monitoring systems to detect and prevent suspicious activities.
Continuous Monitoring
All financial transactions and gameplay activities are continuously monitored by automated systems and our dedicated compliance team. We specifically look for "red flags" such as:
- Unusually large deposits followed by immediate withdrawal requests with little to no gameplay.
- Deposits made from third-party payment methods (e.g., cards or accounts not matching the registered player's name).
- Multiple accounts attempting to coordinate gameplay or transfer funds.
- Players operating from high-risk or restricted IP addresses via VPNs to mask their true location.
Source of Funds (SOF) and Source of Wealth (SOW)
In certain circumstances, particularly for high-volume players or when a transaction triggers an AML alert, CanuckJackpot reserves the right to request documentation proving your Source of Funds or Source of Wealth. This may include:
- Recent payslips or employment contracts.
- Bank statements showing accumulated savings.
- Proof of business ownership or dividends.
- Proof of inheritance or sale of assets.
4. Reporting Suspicious Activity
As part of our legal obligations, CanuckJackpot must report any transactions or activities suspected of being linked to money laundering, fraud, or terrorist financing to the relevant Canadian authorities and law enforcement agencies. In such cases, we are prohibited by law from informing the player that a report has been made ("tipping off").
5. Prohibited Actions and Account Closure
We apply a zero-tolerance policy towards fraudulent and illicit financial activities. Your account will be immediately suspended, and funds may be confiscated or frozen, if we determine that you have:
- Provided false, forged, or misleading identification documents.
- Used a third-party payment method without prior written consent and rigorous verification.
- Attempted to bypass security systems, exploit the software, or launder funds.
- Refused to provide requested KYC, SOF, or SOW documentation within the stipulated timeframe.
6. Data Security and Privacy
We understand that KYC documents contain highly sensitive personal information. All documents submitted to CanuckJackpot are transmitted using bank-grade SSL encryption and are stored on secure, offline servers with strictly limited access. These documents are used solely for verification and compliance purposes and will not be shared with third parties except as required by law or to trusted verification partners working under strict NDAs.
